Reinforced concrete tank wall post-tensioned with circumferential internal tendons in Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A. . The tank is intended for storage of ammonia with a temperature up to -40 degrees.

Within the supervision were carried out experimental tests that form the basis for the evaluation of the effectiveness in realization of design assumptions.
Scope of work included:

  • estimation of basic mechanical properties of concrete of tank wall
  • measurement of radial displacements of tank wall during post-tensioning
  • measurement of changes in opening of vertical structural connections on the height of the first peripheral segment of the tank wall
  • measurement of changes in opening of horizontal structural connection localized between the first and second segment of the tank wall

Separated Digester Chamber Tank was made as monolithic, reinforced concrete cylindrical tank. Total tank capacity amount to 2460m3. The dome was designed as conical shell with an inner diameter of the base 15m. Strengthening of the dome was designed in the form of additional reinforced concrete shell with a thickness of 0,1m.

Separated Digester Chamber Tank originally was made as monolithic, reinforced concrete cylindrical tank with inner radius 8,0m and a height of 8,5m. The wall was post-tensioned with 42 circumferential external unbonded tendons. The tendons were anchored in two rows of steel pilasters.
